How to screenshot in Linux:

1. How do I take a screenshot on my Linux device?

Press the PrtScn key. In most Linux desktop environments this either takes a screenshot and saves it inside your Linux device's 'Pictures' folder, or it starts an application for taking screenshots. If this didn't work, try also pressing the Fn (Function) key together with the PrtScn key.

2. Where can I find this key?

The PrtScn key is usually located at the top right of your keyboard. It is usually to the left of the Scroll Lock and Pause keys, and may have a slightly different abbreviation such as 'Print Scrn' or 'Prt Scrn', depending on the keyboard you are using.
A video to show you how this works:

How do I take a partial screenshot instead of the entire screen?

Press and hold the Shift key before pressing down the PrtScn key. You may now use your mouse to select the area you wish to capture. Your Linux device will save the partial screenshot inside your Linux device's 'Pictures' folder. If this didn't work, try also pressing the Fn (Function) key together with the other keys.

How do I take a partial screenshot of an application window?

Press and hold the Alt key before pressing down the PrtScn key. Your Linux device will save a screenshot of the active application window inside your Linux device's 'Pictures' folder. If this didn't work, try also pressing the Fn (Function) key together with the other keys.
